This program for NCCC clients aims to combine fun activities with therapeutic approaches to create a safe and comfortable environment for treatment.

  • Communication & Conflict Resolution: Youth of various ages will learn about the different forms of communication, how to improve their communication with others and express their wants/needs effectively, and learn skills to resolve conflict when it arises in their life. Activities may include worksheets, open discussion, art, and/or other interactive activities.
  • Stinkin Thinking & How to Change Negative Thoughts: Youth of various ages will learn how to identify various types of negative thinking styles, openly discuss how negatively thoughts can impact both feelings and behavior, and learn skills to either manage negative thoughts or change them. Activities may include worksheets, open discussion, art, and/or other interactive activities.
  • Relationships, Values, & Self-identity: Youth will learn how to identify their present values, how to incorporate those values into their daily lives to increase overall satisfaction and achievement in life, discuss how their values help shape a person’s self-identity, and understanding how personal values and self-worth/identity can help you create healthy verses unhealthy relationships with others.
  • Self-Care/Stress Management: Youth will learn the importance of self-care, how to identify common triggers to their increasing stress levels, bodily responses to stress, and how to effectively cope/calm themselves when feelings distress or tolerate distress until it ceases.

Group locations are to be determined. Perfect attendance is not required, and participants may join multiple groups, though space is limited to four participants per group. These groups are open to school-based clients and community members 18 years and younger.
