In Case You Missed It: April Recap

North Community Counseling Centers stayed actively engaged in the community throughout April with several outreach and staff initiatives. Our team connected with local partners to share information about our new Residential Care Facility (RCF), Safe Landing, continuing to build strong relationships and expand awareness of our services.

Additionally, our Women’s Empowerment Program hosted a Financial Boot Camp in partnership with BMI Federal Credit Union at the Hilltop Library, providing valuable resources and education to participants. We closed out the month by coming together for our All-Staff In-Person Meeting, strengthening connection and collaboration across our team.

April’s All Staff Meeting!

NCCC staff came together for an all-staff meeting focused on strengthening connection and collaboration across our team. The gathering featured a lively, Jeopardy-style trivia game that brought plenty of laughter, smiles, and friendly competition.

May Employee Of The Month!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month: Support Through NCCC Women’s Empowerment Groups

“Mental health is a vital part of overall wellness, shaping how we think, feel, and show up in our daily lives. Through our Women’s Empowerment Program, we offer groups designed to support both emotional and physical well-being in meaningful, accessible ways. Shine On Sisters empowers participants to reduce stress and build strength through yoga, tai chi, arts and crafts, and other stress-reducing activities, while Nutrition Prevention groups explore how healthy eating habits can improve mental health from the inside out. Our Queer Empowerment Group provides a safe, affirming space for LGBTQ+ individuals to connect and thrive, and the Thrive and Flourish Circle focuses on ongoing support, personal growth, and community engagement. Together, these groups create a strong foundation for healing, resilience, and whole-person wellness. Groups meet weekly and are open to all NCCC clients.

Stay In The Know With NCCC

This month at NCCC, our team will continue working to educate and enrich the lives of individuals and families across Central Ohio.

NCCC has officially opened Safe Landing, a 16-bed residential program for adult women with a dual diagnosis, now accepting referrals and offering 24/7 care, wraparound services, and rent waivers for those without income.

Our Next Generation and Safe Landing residential clients are looking forward to an upcoming Columbus Clippers game on May 21, hosted by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners Office on Aging.

We’re excited to offer NCCC’s Youth Summer Prevention Groups beginning in June! Topics include communication, managing negative thinking, relationships, and stress management. Groups are open to school-based clients and community members ages 18 and under.

Sessions will be offered multiple times daily with small group sizes (4–5 participants max), so early registration is encouraged. Locations will be shared once finalized. Impact in Action

We recently received heartfelt feedback from a caregiver expressing deep appreciation for the support provided by Brittany Cantrell and Janis Johnson. They were recognized for their “kindness, patience, and creativity” and for the way they build trust and connection. Brittany’s longstanding relationship and insight help “make sense of feelings and behaviors,” while Janis is described as a “voice of reason” who helps keep things moving forward. Their consistent communication, practical guidance, and advocacy have “made this journey easier” and reflect the meaningful impact our staff have on the individuals and families we serve.
